The brick building of St. John's York Mills Anglican Church dates back to 1844 when in replaced the original log church of 1816. The building has since seen a number of additions and alterations in response to the ever growing and changing needs of the congregation. MORE >

James Bailey Architect was originally retained to undertake a feasibility study related to barrier-free accessibility throughout the building. A number of design alternatives were reviewed and quantity of scale budgets was provided.

More recently, our firm was approached to provide comprehensive consulting services related to accessibility upgrades at the main entrance of the church. The project consisted of a new poured concrete barrier–free ramp from grade to the level of the main doors, replacement of the old historic door with new which provides the acceptable width for barrier-free access (the door was designed to echo the historic design, but be energy efficient and provide more light into the vestibule), new finishes and lighting upgrades for both the vestibule and the exterior porch.
