ALL SAINT'S ANGLICAN CHURCH
King City, Ontario

As the largest meeting facility in King City, and the largest Anglican Church in its deanery, All Saint's Church is used for a full range of public presentations in addition to worship. Built in 1958, the chancel area follows the Anglican model of a divided choir area three steps up from the nave, leading to a sanctuary area raised a further three steps. MORE >

James Bailey Architect was retained to work with a Chancel Committee to develop design alternatives which will provide the flexibility needed to maximize the use of the church for functions other than worship and also acoustically improve the chancel area for choral and organ music. A number of design alternatives were developed which were presented to the congregation in an open house.

While the project was momentarily halted when the Incumbent of the Parish was appointed Bishop, the momentum which had been built up during the planning stages was sufficient to allow his successor to complete the project.

James Bailey Architect was further retained to provide comprehensive architectural services related to the design and construction of a new Atrium, which was to offer a weather protected access to the barrier-free lift, as well as additional vestibule/coat storage space. A building permit was obtained and the project was tendered. However, the cost for the construction was beyond the means of the congregation at that time and the project had to be deferred.
